Depth Perception

Depth perception - Depth perception is the visual ability to perceive the world in three dimensions. It is a trait common to many higher animals.

Sensation and perception psychology - Sensation and perception psychology is the study of the human and animal systems such as vision, audition and pain sensation. Included in this discpline is the study of illusions such as motion after effect, color constancy and depth perception.

Stereogram - A stereogram is an optical illusion of depth usually observed by allowing the eyes to focus behind an image (diverge), but also sometimes in front of the image (converge). The slight differences in vertical repetitions of figures or random dots create the illusion of depth in the 2D image, just as the slight difference in perspective between one's eyes creates the perception of depth on 3D objects and scenes.

Stereopsis - Stereopsis is the process in visual perception leading to perception of the depth or distance of objects. It comes from two Greek roots, stereo meaning solidity, and opsis meaning vision or sight.

Taking photographs has become easier over the years, but taking photographs that have impact depth perception and lasting power has not. Such images require heart, depth perception and some understanding of the factors that make an image noteworthy. Perception depth perception and Imaging, Second Edition will lead you into areas depth perception and concepts that will spark your intellectual curiosity depth perception and assist you in your image making. What is known about vision depth perception and the visual process is overwhelming; what is directly applicable to pictures is not. Perception depth perception and Imaging, Second Edition is the visual artist's gateway to the principles that drive visual perception. Perception depth perception and Imaging, Second Edition invites you to explore the domain of the subconscious depth perception and collective unconscious, depth perception and the role subliminals, secondary images, depth perception and archetypes play; the role of memory depth perception and association, depth perception and why ambiguity depth perception and illusion are an important components; why soft depth perception and hard contours (edges) are critical to sharpness, contrast, color, depth perception and depth perception; depth perception and how visual rhetoric has been used to give impact to photographs, advertisements, posters, promotional material, depth perception and motion pictures. Perception depth perception and Imaging, Second Edition is for anyone depth perception and everyone involved with visual images depth perception and has a desire to better understand them. Visual Space Perception: A Primer by Maurice Hershenson,

Visual Space Perception: A Primer by Maurice Hershenson,
A renewed interest in the study of vision has attracted scholars from such diverse fields as neuroscience, computer science, mathematics, physics, depth perception and philosophy. At the same time, the development of imaging devices depth perception and popularization of stereoscopic effects has increased student interest in vision. Both groups require more depth than is available in undergraduate texts depth perception and more breadth than is usually available in handbooks. This primer provides an overview of the principles of space perception in a handbook format that will appeal to researchers as well as students. Topics covered include geometrical depth perception and distal-proximal relationships, spatial localization, stereopsis, cyclopean perception, stimulus inadequacy, pictorial cues, perceived size depth perception and shape, Gibsonian psychophysics, lateral motion, motion in depth, perceived object motion, depth perception and motion detection.
